Mother's Day - 14 May (different dates globally) - In 1914, the 2nd Sunday in May was officially declared Mother's Day by President Wilson (USA). Anna Jarvis of Philadelphia first suggested a day on which to honour mothers and motherhood.

Independence Day Paraguay - 15 May - A celebration of independence from Spain in 1811. Festivities begin on May 14

Constitution Day Norway - 17 May - Norway celebrates its Constitution of 1814.

National Day Cameroon - 20 May - This day commemorates the establishment of the nation on this day in 1972.
