Hot Links To Learning - Managing Up
Managing Up is a crucial skill, but one of the hardest things to do. How well you do it can undoubtedly make or break your career. We get asked to incorporate some form of Managing Up skill development in 90+% of our Executive Coaching programs and Leadership Coaching Helpline calls, and it was a hot topic at our recent Round Table Discussion.
It’s important at a non-management level as well as new manager/supervisor level, and it exponentially increases in importance from there. It’s a critical imperative for Senior Managers and Executives. The flatter the management structure, the more crucial it is.
However, there is rarely any support or training given around Managing Up. The focus is normally on team leadership development; Managing Up skills are often left to languish in the corner, and only considered when fingers - or bridges - have been burnt. Hence we decided to collate some articles for you below in this week’s Hot Links to Learning.
For more information on how we can help you develop Managing Up expertise through our Executive Coaching or ½-day training programs, give us a call on 02 7901 5618 to talk through your requirements and see how we can tailor a program for you.
